There's not much to say about this one. Matthew reinjured his throwing shoulder in the 23-20 overtime loss to the New York Jets. He finished the day completing 20 of 36 passes for 240 yards and two touchdowns.

It's obvious how anemic the Lions offense has become since Matthew got injured. It's amazing how in such a short time he has become almost indispensible for the Lions if they are to have some modicum of success.

Detroit Free Press beat writer Dave Birkett had some interesting things to say on his Twitter account. Here's what he said during yesterday's game, "Lions are feisty and not very good right now. Offense has no juice w/o Stafford/Best." Couldn't have said it better myself. And when he was asked about when Matthew would be back, he said, "Wouldnt expect him next wk. Wasn't even 3rd QB today."

The Detroit Lions held their press conference Wednesday, and Matthew mentioned that his shoulder was feeling better, but he did not practiced and said that he would not start throwing again until the team's staff felt that he was ready to throw. QB Shaun Hill will start for the Lions on Sunday, but head coach Jim Schwartz has not ruled Matthew out just yet. I think it's safe to say that that is just coach talk, and they'll keep Matthew out for another week.

Hi everyone! I was on vacation since last Sunday that's why there were no updates, and it looks like I picked the worst week to miss a game. Anyway, by now you know that Matthew injured his right shoulder in the disappointing loss against the Chicago Bears, and the Lions have been extremely hush hush about his injury, but from all reports is not expected that he'll play this Sunday.

Matthew continues to do very well this preseason. He was 13 of 17 for 141 yards and one touchdown with a QB rating of 120. He has a 74% completion percentage this preseason. The Lions won 35-27.

The Lions vs. Browns games is going to be broadcasted live on NFL Network this Saturday at 5:00 p.m.

Also, a Lions fan walked over 400 miles from Michigan's Upper Peninsula to the Lions practice facility in Allen Park to show his support of the team. Matthew, head coach Jim Schwartz and other players were there to greet him.

The consensus among the coaches, media and fans is that Matthew was one of the highlights for the Lions against the Steelers. The second-year QB looked smooth and in command leading the Lions to their only TD of the night.

I hope Matthew continues his weekly interviews with Mitch Albom this season like he did last year. I'll try to find out if he will because I've been looking forward to those.

Preseason football is finally here! The Lions kicked it off against the Pittsburgh Steelers, and Matthew had a good game. He was 8 of 11 for 61 yards with one touchdown and one interception that was the result of a deflection by Lions rookie RB Jahvid Best. The Lions lost 23-7.

After reading this article from The Sacramento Bee, I realized something interesting. That if all four quarterbacks that were drafted in the first three rounds this year start during the season, that Matthew will still be the youngest starting QB in the NFL. He is younger than all of the QBs drafted this year except for two and even then, he is older than those two by only one month. Also, by the time some of his fellow QBs from the 2006 recruiting class step on an NFL field, Matthew will be a three year veteran by then.

The first round of the 2010 NFL Draft is in the books, and the Detroit Lions drafted former Nebraska DT Ndamukong Suh and California RB Jahvid Best. Just a short update since I haven't been able to for a few days. Work and med school applications have taken over every minute of my life.

With the draft coming up shortly, I think we will be seeing a lot of looking back to last year's draft, and Matthew will surely be a topic of conversation. I'll try to take some time off to update the blog should anything interesting arise.

Sorry for the lack of updates lately, but except for a few Twitter posts stating that Matthew did an interview in Dallas this weekend, there has been nothing to report. Plus, I've been applying to medical school, and that has been taxing to say the least. Wish me luck in getting accepted.

Recently, Matthew autographed a couple of jerseys for a young fan, Reilly Parent. Reilly is a 10 year old boy that was born with a congenital defect of the bones and needs a wheelchair to move around. His parents are auctioning off one of the jerseys in order to raise funds to purchase a wheelchair van that will greatly increase his mobility. The Detroit Lions have signed another offensive weapon for Matthew, former Seattle Seahawks WR Nate Burleson. The Lions also added DE Kyle Vanden Bosch and DT Corey Williams to the defense, which will hopefully improve enough to keep the offense from playing from behind virtually every week. Hopefully that translates into Matthew not leading the league in pass attempts two years in a row.

Here's a behind the scenes video of Matthew at the AXE Hair Action Challenge video shoot. It's hilarious! Getting poked in the eye... twice, a model choking on his hair, messing up his lines, and dressing as a pirate. I can't wait to see that commercial.

If you have Dish Network, you can now go to Channel 99, and take the Hair Action Challenge there. Channel 99 is basically Matthew's AXE Hair commercials in a loop 24-hours a day. I'm not completely sure yet, but I think you can also find it on DirecTV's Channel 116.

Scott Linehan, the Lions' offensive coordinator talked to FanHouse.com's Dan Graziano about Matthew's rookie season. He mades some interesting comments such as, "We felt pretty confident we picked a guy we could lean on for years and years to come," and "as he[Stafford] goes, the Lions will go." I think that shows just the kind of expectations and confidence that the Lions have in Matthew.
